It seems like such a 90’s thing to talk about, but “files” still account for a lot of the data on a corporate network. All those documents that your users create: Word, Excel, Visio, whatever…they’re all over the place. In their personal directories, in department shares, or even in ad-hoc folders that they’ve asked you to create so they can collaborate with some of their peers.
By all accounts, this “unstructured data” keeps growing. Despite the SharePoint servers, the document management systems, or other solutions, those pesky user files are still everywhere.
So how do you get a clear picture of what’s out there? How do you manage it? (Actually, most organizations tell us they don’t – they’ve lost control and it’s just too tedious to manage!)
There is help: Novell File Management Suite.
Novell FMS provides a complete Find-Govern-Relocate approach to automating file management.
